In Search of a Magic Song
I believe that films can inspire and heal.
I offer something peaceful, beautiful, and thought provoking, that can be a help and a comfort in these challenging times – visions of nature and our place within it that can take us above all the noise and anxiety that besets us at present.
My films are visual and musical feasts, primarily of the wondrous desert landscapes of the American West. They are necessarily classified as Documentaries, but they are truly Personal Essays, with my writings about the great deserts and other environments, exploring the meaning of our connections to nature in these magnificent landscapes, and philosophical musings and insights into the big themes of “the nature of Time,” and “the meaning of Life.”
I invite you to join me on these adventures through the great deserts of the American West and even into the magical worlds of the tribal Amazon Jungle where sacred work in consciousness and inner healing is practiced every day. There, I encountered powerful and truly magical Spirit Songs that inspired me to discover one for myself, out in the vast and inspiring deserts!

Through engaging narrative, photography, poetry, animation, and with a philosophical view of his own place in the cosmos, David P. Crews explores the many ways the desert affects him as he leads us into magical and sublime sanctuaries within these spectacular places on planet Earth.
This stunning visual journey is enhanced with another “character” in the story: David’s full symphony music score. He has received more than a dozen awards from around the world for his past documentary and nature film scores, including Best Original Score and Best Composer. The 85 minutes of lyrical and emotional music for this film features the BBC Symphony Orchestra-Pro from London's Spitfire Audio, and was composed, performed, and recorded at David's JaguarFeather Studios in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

My films are somewhat different than almost any others. So much so, that it is difficult to accurately classify them.
In my features, I create a kind of personal essay where I take the viewer with me at my side along a journey into a highly crafted presentation
comprised of five specific things, all mixed together into a seamless finished experience. Those five components are:
• Philosophy, in observations about nature, the world, and insights into life.
• Poetry, in the form of actual poems.
• Poetic Prose, where the script itself is truly just one long and engaging poem.
• Music Scoring in an emotionally engaging and romantic style,
and, inspirational and alluring
• Cinematography of natural landscapes and environments.
In my particular work, that often focuses on the grand desert landscapes of the world.
